NBA 2K27 cover athletes named; game set for September 4 launch

2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ: TTWO), has announced the cover athletes for NBA 2K27, developed by Visual Concepts. The game is scheduled for worldwide release on September 4, 2026.
Victor Wembanyama, center for the San Antonio Spurs, will appear on the Standard Edition, priced at $69.99. Caitlin Clark, guard for the Indiana Fever and 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, will be featured on the Deluxe Edition at $99.99. Derrick Rose, a three-time NBA All-Star and former MVP, will appear on the Ultra Edition, priced at $149.99 with limited availability through September 6, 2026.
Clark is described in the press release as the first WNBA player to headline her own global edition of the game. "Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world," Clark said. "To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women's basketball gets to show up on that stage too."
The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Owners of the Deluxe or Ultra Edition will receive Early Access beginning August 28, 2026. The Ultra Edition is only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
A gameplay trailer is scheduled for release on July 28. Pre-orders are currently open on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a wish list option available for Nintendo Switch 2.
NBA 2K27 is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and is officially licensed by the NBA, the WNBPA, and PLYRS UNTD.
