CONMED Corporation (NYSE: CNMD) announced that its AirSeal Robotic Solution has received an expanded FDA indication for use with Intuitive's 8 mm hex cannulas on the da Vinci 5 platform.
The expanded indication adds to the product's existing clearance for use with Intuitive's 8 mm round cannulas. AirSeal Robotic Solution is now indicated for use across Intuitive's da Vinci X, da Vinci Xi, and da Vinci 5 robotic systems.
According to the company, the expanded indication followed engineering and technical compatibility testing conducted by CONMED in collaboration with Intuitive.
"We are pleased to secure and announce this expanded indication for use, which was supported by extensive engineering and technical compatibility testing conducted by CONMED in collaboration with Intuitive," said Patrick J. Beyer, CONMED's President and Chief Executive Officer.
The AirSeal Robotic Solution is an insufflation system comprising an AirSeal Cannula Cap, AirSeal, and Bifurcated Tube Set designed for use in robotic surgical procedures. The company states the product delivers stable pneumoperitoneum, continuous smoke evacuation, and low-pressure insufflation through robotic ports.
