SK Hynix (NASDAQ: SKHY) has increased its planned investment in the construction of an advanced packaging facility in Cheongju, Korea, according to a regulatory filing.
The company's board of directors approved the revised investment amount of ₩7.09 trillion on July 22, 2026, representing approximately 5.88% of the company's total equity of ₩120.67 trillion as of December 31, 2025.
The facility, designated P&T7, is intended to serve as a production base for AI memory semiconductors. The board cited increased production needs and an accelerated cleanroom opening schedule as reasons for raising the investment amount.
Construction of P&T7 began on November 26, 2025, with a projected completion date of December 31, 2032. All six independent directors were present at the board meeting that approved the increase, with none absent.
SK Hynix noted that the investment amount may change depending on the progress of construction and shifts in the business environment, and that the projected end date remains subject to change.
