Accruent, an operating company of Fortive (NYSE: FTV), has announced a partnership with PowerX, a telecom infrastructure intelligence company, to connect AI-driven energy monitoring with Accruent's Siterra site and asset management platform.
The integration is designed to help tower companies identify energy inefficiencies, flag asset discrepancies, and convert detected issues into actionable workflows within Siterra. PowerX captures real-time data from telecom sites and applies data science to analyze energy consumption and asset behavior. When site conditions do not align with records in Siterra, the system can generate tasks for field teams to investigate and correct.
According to GSMA data cited in the announcement, energy costs can represent as much as 40% of overall network operating expenses for a typical tower site in Africa, making energy management a significant cost factor for telecom infrastructure operators.
"Telecom infrastructure teams need confidence that the data in their systems reflects what is actually happening in the field," said Gilles Mepossi Noutcha, Vice President and General Manager at Accruent. "This gives TowerCos a more proactive way to optimize site performance, control energy costs and act on emerging issues before they become larger operational or financial problems."
Andrew Schafer, CEO of PowerX, said the partnership allows the company to connect site intelligence "directly into the workflows TowerCos already use to manage projects, sites, assets and operations."
The companies said the partnership targets tower operators managing distributed portfolios globally, with a particular focus on emerging markets and remote locations where grid reliability may be inconsistent and energy exposure is high. PowerX claims its platform has achieved reductions of more than 30% in energy costs, maintenance operating expenses, and CO2 emissions in telecommunications deployments, according to the press release.
