Velo3D, Inc. (Nasdaq: VELO) opened its Livermore Production Campus, called Forge 1, on July 15 in Livermore, California. The nearly 289,000-square-foot facility includes approximately 270,000 square feet of production space and is designed to support more than 40 large-format metal additive manufacturing systems, with capacity to expand beyond 100 systems over time.

Combined with its existing Fremont, California headquarters, Velo3D expects to operate up to 125 systems across both campuses. The Fremont facility will continue to serve as the company's center for research and development, applications engineering, process development and customer qualification.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Livermore Mayor John Marchand, Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert, California Senator Jerry McNerney and Alameda County Assessor Phong La, among others. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) H.R. McMaster, former U.S. national security advisor, delivered a recorded message at the event.

Forge 1 is designed to support machine assembly, production-scale printing, post-processing, inspection, quality assurance and customer acceptance. The campus is intended to serve aerospace, defense, energy and other industries requiring domestic manufacturing of metal components.

"Forge 1 is much more than a new production facility," said Arun Jeldi, Chief Executive Officer of Velo3D. "It represents our commitment to helping customers and our nation build a stronger, more resilient manufacturing foundation."

The facility will begin operations in phases as systems are installed and qualified, with capacity increasing over time. According to the company's press release, Velo3D describes itself as the only U.S.-founded and U.S.-based original equipment manufacturer in the large-format laser powder bed fusion market with hardware manufactured domestically.
