VivoSim makes first commercial sales in China for NAMkind testing

July 21, 2026 8:05 AM EDT

VivoSim Labs, Inc. (Nasdaq: VIVS) announced its first commercial sales in China, securing two initial contracts through its local distributor, Tekon, according to a company statement.

The two engagements are with a Shanghai-based oncology biotech and a Chengdu-based pharmaceutical company. Both orders cover gastrointestinal toxicology screening and NAMkind™ GI efficacy profiling for drug candidates in oncology and other disease areas. The company said the contracts represent a meaningful share of its total contracted revenue to date.

VivoSim's NAMkind™ platform uses 3D human organoid models of the liver and intestine, built from primary human donor cells and paired with proprietary AI. The company offers two service lines on these models: toxicology testing and efficacy testing. In benchmarking against a clinical dataset of 92 small-molecule compounds, the company reported its NAMkind™ Liver model achieved 91% predictive accuracy, with 90% sensitivity and 95% specificity.

The San Diego-based company said its services are now commercially available in the U.S., Europe, and mainland China. VivoSim's internal analysis estimates the addressable China market for liver and gastrointestinal in vitro models and toxicology services at approximately $2 billion, growing at a 10% compound annual growth rate.

China's drug regulator, the National Medical Products Administration, approved 76 innovative drugs in 2025, up from 48 in 2024.

"China is now the world's second-largest pharmaceutical market and among the fastest-moving sources of drug innovation globally, and these first two sales show there is real, paying demand for the human-relevant safety and efficacy data VivoSim is built to deliver," said Tony Lialin, Chief Commercial Officer of VivoSim.

The company also referenced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's April 2025 plan to phase out animal-testing requirements for monoclonal antibodies and certain other drugs in favor of non-animal methods as a factor it anticipates will support broader adoption of its platform.
