ScottsMiracle-Gro (NYSE: SMG) released its 2026 Corporate Responsibility Report, outlining a new sustainability strategy called GroForward 2030, which sets goals across three areas: products, practices and people.
The Marysville, Ohio-based company said GroForward 2030 targets include reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by fiscal 2030 from a fiscal 2024 baseline, and cutting purchased water intensity by 10% across all operated facilities over the same period.
On the product side, the company said 100% of new products introduced will align with at least one sustainability criterion tied to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and it aims to increase the share of its product catalog with an average consumer rating of 4.0 stars or higher by 25% from a fiscal 2025 baseline.
Community-focused goals include a $10 million investment in charitable contributions and strategic partnerships, support for the protection or restoration of at least 3,000 acres of natural habitat, and a 50% employee participation rate in the company's volunteer time-off program.
President and CEO Nate Baxter said GroForward 2030 aligns with the company's broader SMG 2.0 growth strategy, which focuses on product innovation in naturals and organics, e-commerce channel expansion, and operational efficiency improvements.
The report also highlights 2025 milestones, including 50% sales growth of Miracle-Gro Organics, diversion of 344,445 pounds of plastic waste from landfills through a Trex recycling partnership, and $1.96 million in grants distributed by the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation. The company also noted that associate gardens at its Marysville campus donated over 6,700 pounds of fresh produce to local food banks.
ScottsMiracle-Gro reported approximately $3.3 billion in annual sales. The full report is available on the company's website.
