Airbus signs first U030 Flexrotor order in Canada with Voyageur

July 21, 2026 5:56 AM EDT

Airbus Helicopters and Voyageur Aviation have signed a purchase agreement for the Airbus U030 Flexrotor uncrewed aerial system (UAS) in Canada, making Voyageur the Canadian launch customer for the platform. The agreement was signed at the Farnborough International Airshow on July 21, 2026.

The deal follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Airbus and Voyageur at the CANSEC defense exhibition in May 2026, which was aimed at supporting Canada's defense objectives.

The U030 Flexrotor is a tactical vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) UAS designed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) operations. It has a maximum launch weight of 25 kg and an operational flight endurance of more than 12 hours. The system can launch and recover autonomously from a 3.7 by 3.7 metre area on land or at sea.

"This purchase represents a significant advancement in Voyageur's ISR strategy and an important first for the Canadian market," said Cory Cousineau, President of Voyageur.

Dwayne Charette, President of Airbus Helicopters in Canada, said the agreement reflects "Airbus' commitment to delivering next-generation tactical capabilities to the region."

Airbus Group trades on the OTC market under the ticker EADSY.
