Imax Corporation (NYSE: IMAX) and CGV have agreed to upgrade three existing Imax locations in Vietnam to the Imax with Laser projection system, according to a press release from the companies.
The three locations, situated in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, are scheduled to begin upgrades in 2027. Once complete, the full CGV/Imax network in Vietnam will operate on the Imax with Laser platform.
Imax reported that 2025 was its strongest year on record in Vietnam, with box office revenue of nearly $6 million. The company attributed part of that growth to the release of the first Vietnamese-language Imax titles, "Money Kisses" and "A Gift From Heaven."
The Imax network in Vietnam has doubled since 2022, reaching eight locations. Including the three sites covered by the new agreement, the company has at least three additional locations in its backlog for the country.
Imax with Laser is the company's current top-tier cinema system, featuring 4K image projection and a precision audio configuration. Imax operates 1,865 systems across 91 countries and territories as of March 31, 2026.
