Voyager wins ISS mission contract with Sandia National Labs

Voyager Technologies (NYSE: VOYG) has been awarded a mission management contract with Sandia National Laboratories to fly a demonstration payload aboard the International Space Station in 2027, according to a company press release.

Under the contract, Voyager will provide end-to-end mission management for Sandia's "Big Boy" demonstration, covering experiment design, payload integration, safety review, manifest and mission planning, and on-orbit operations. The mission aims to validate on-orbit operations of parallel sensors designed to improve understanding of lightning emissions, the natural radiation environment, and sensor and optics degradation from launch, vacuum, and reentry forces.

The payload will integrate with Voyager's NEL external payload platform, which mounts on the company's Bishop Airlock, described as the first permanently owned commercial module on the Space Station. The first NEL platform is scheduled to fly to the station aboard the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's HTV-X2, with a second platform to follow in spring 2027.

Sandia National Laboratories, based in New Mexico, is a multi-mission laboratory focused on advancing U.S. national security through science-based technology development.
