Pratt & Whitney Canada wins $1B engine overhaul contract

Pratt & Whitney Canada, a unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), has been awarded a nine-year, $1 billion contract from V2X Inc. to overhaul more than 750 PT6A-68 engines that power the U.S. Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) T-6 trainer fleet.

The contract was issued under V2X's T-6 Contractor Operated and Maintained Base Supply program. The work will be performed at Pratt & Whitney Canada's Bridgeport, West Virginia facility, which employs approximately 500 workers and has conducted PT6A-68 maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations for more than four decades.

According to the press release, this is the second time the Bridgeport site has been awarded this engine refurbishment contract for the U.S. government.

Frédéric Lefebvre, vice president of Customer Service Operations at Pratt & Whitney Canada, attributed the award to the company's West Virginia workforce. "This award is a testament to our 500 West Virginia employees, and the high-quality sustainment support they provide to our customers," he said.

Chris Abrams, vice president of V2X Aerospace Solutions, cited the existing relationship between the two companies. "We have great confidence in the P&WC Bridgeport team having worked together on other long-term contracts throughout the years," he said.
