BMO Capital analyst James M. Thalacker lowered the price target on Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) to $134.00 (from $138.00) while maintaining an Outperform rating.
The analyst commented: "Unanticipated Comprehensive Settlement in DEC NC Case Helps De-Risk Story; Friday, a settlement resolving all remaining revenue requirement issues was filed in DEC NC's rate case, with Staff and several intervenors among the stipulating parties. The settlement reflects a revised revenue requirement of $496mm (50% of the original $1,002mm request and 80% of the company's revised $622mm request). We view this as a positive surprise as we believe most investors (and ourselves) were likely not expecting a comprehensive settlement given that evidentiary hearings had commenced on July 7. We remain Outperform. Our SOTP/MTM moves to $134."
