KBR wins ammonia technology contract for Argentina plant

KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced that its Purifier technology has been selected by Pampa Energía for a new ammonia-urea complex in Bahía Blanca, Argentina.

Under the contract, KBR will provide technology licensing, a basic engineering design package, and proprietary equipment for a 3,430 tons-per-day ammonia plant. The facility is expected to begin operations by the end of 2029.

According to the press release, the completed plant is claimed to be the largest single-train ammonia plant in Latin America. The project also involves SACDE and Tecnimont.

"KBR's proven and scalable ammonia process technologies are a preferred choice amongst customers worldwide," said Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions. "They enable plants to operate with optimum energy-efficiency while delivering maximum yield."
