Bausch + Lomb Corporation (NYSE: BLCO) has launched the EyeGility Inserter preloaded intraocular lens (IOL) delivery system in the United States, according to a company statement.
The EyeGility Inserter is designed for use with the enVista family of IOLs. It features one-handed operation, a silicone soft-tipped plunger, and allows injection through a 2.4mm incision. The system also supports up to 20 minutes of standby time between preparation and lens delivery, according to the company.
The inserter is currently available with enVista Aspire preloaded IOLs. Compatibility with enVista Envy lenses is expected to become available in the coming months.
"The launch of EyeGility enables surgeons to continue delivering these benefits to their patients while also gaining the efficiencies and advantages offered by this preloaded IOL delivery system," said Wayne Caulder, vice president and general manager, North America Surgical, Bausch + Lomb.
The EyeGility Inserter is restricted to sale by or on the order of a physician under federal law. Bausch + Lomb is headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario.
