Definium Therapeutics launches GAD education program for providers

Definium Therapeutics (Nasdaq: DFTX) has launched a healthcare provider education initiative called Wired for Worry, focused on generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

The platform provides evidence-based resources on GAD symptoms, disease burden, assessment tools, and neurobiology. It also highlights the use of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) screening scale to improve patient identification and outcomes.

According to the company, GAD affects approximately 26 million U.S. adults. Patients report up to 10 days of limitations in daily and occupational responsibilities per month, and the disorder is associated with increased risk of suicidal ideation and behavior. The last new drug approved for GAD treatment occurred in 2007, according to the press release.

The initiative also addresses treatment patterns, noting that patients experience high rates of pharmacotherapy switching, discontinuation, and prolonged gaps in care.

"Wired for Worry equips healthcare providers with the emerging science of the neural dysregulation underlying this disorder and increased knowledge of how patients' GAD symptoms can manifest well beyond excessive worry," said Dan Karlin, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Definium Therapeutics.

Definium said it plans to expand the platform with additional educational content covering other psychiatric disorders. The New York-based company describes itself as a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics targeting underlying causes of psychiatric and neurological disorders.
