Catholic Health and GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) announced a 10-year strategic partnership valued at approximately $500 million to expand imaging, diagnostics and AI-enabled technology across Catholic Health's Long Island hospital network.
The agreement, described by the companies as a "Care Alliance," covers more than 1,300 pieces of equipment and technology across more than 40 sites, including six acute care hospitals: St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center, St. Charles Hospital, Good Samaritan University Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, and Mercy Hospital.
Equipment additions will span CT, PET/CT, nuclear medicine, MR, mammography, X-ray, ultrasound, surgical, anesthesia, diagnostic cardiology, and maternal infant care modalities. About 50% of the equipment additions are scheduled to arrive within the first three years of the agreement.
The partnership also includes a 10-year multivendor service agreement covering delivery, maintenance, lifecycle management, and staff training across all sites. Digital components include AI-powered tools for scheduling, diagnostics, and operations, as well as a cloud-based radiology platform called Imaging 360.
Focus areas include cardiology, oncology, neurology, and women's health. The companies said patients may begin to see equipment additions within months, including contrast-enhanced mammography and upgraded maternal-infant care monitoring at Good Samaritan University Hospital.
"This Care Alliance represents an important investment in the future of health care on Long Island," said Gary Havican, Interim President and CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Health.
The agreement is structured with unitary payments intended to generate capital savings compared with traditional equipment purchasing, according to the companies' joint statement.
