York Space Systems readies second satellite lot for SDA launch

York Space Systems (NYSE: YSS) announced that its second production lot of satellites for the Space Development Agency's (SDA) Tranche 1 Transport Layer constellation is ready for launch aboard a dedicated Falcon 9 rocket.

The company said it is the first SDA Tranche 1 performer to reach launch readiness with a second production lot, having previously been the first Tranche 1 provider to ship and launch operational spacecraft. The current batch consists of 21 satellites integrated and stacked for flight.

Upon launch, York's first and second production lots will represent more than 40 spacecraft delivered in support of the SDA mission. The launch will also mark the third constellation and fifth mission the Denver-based company will simultaneously operate on orbit.

The satellites are designed to provide tactical communications for U.S. and allied military forces. York said the production lot was manufactured across multiple company facilities built to produce spacecraft at scale.
