Leonardo DRS wins contract for 50,000+ thermal imaging cameras

Leonardo DRS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DRS) announced it has signed a blanket purchase agreement to supply more than 50,000 Tenum® Orbit™ thermal imaging cameras, according to a company press release dated July 15, 2026.



The contract covers compact thermal imaging systems intended for use in unmanned systems and other platforms. The company did not disclose the financial value of the agreement or identify the customer.



Jerry Hathaway, senior vice president and general manager of the Leonardo DRS EO/IS business unit, said: "This agreement demonstrates the strength of our thermal imaging technology and our readiness to deliver at scale. We have made strategic investments in our production capabilities so we can respond quickly and reliably to growing customer demand across a wide range of mission applications."



The Tenum® Orbit™ module was developed for high-volume production across multiple end uses, including drones. Leonardo DRS stated it has invested in factory infrastructure and manufacturing capacity designed to support annual production in the hundreds of thousands of units.



The company also noted the Tenum® Orbit™ is designed to support exportability and compliance with international trade regulations.
