Rubrik joins Internet2 to support cybersecurity in higher education

Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) has joined Internet2, a nonprofit member-driven technology organization serving the higher education and research community, according to a press release from the company.

The membership connects Rubrik with Internet2's network of more than 500 member organizations, with the stated goal of supporting data backup and cyber recovery for colleges, universities, and research institutions.

Rubrik has also participated in the Internet2 Cloud Scorecard, a framework designed to align technology providers with standards relevant to research and education institutions.

The announcement cited a recent analysis finding that 82% of U.S. educational organizations reported cyber threat impacts as context for the partnership.

"Building institutional resilience for research and higher education requires a robust community of shared expertise," said Sean O'Brien, Associate Vice President for NET+ Cloud Services at Internet2. "Rubrik joining Internet2 as a member advances important conversations around data security, cyber resilience and recovery."

Internet2 was founded in 1996 and serves 342 U.S. universities, 59 government agencies, and 46 regional and state education networks, among other members.
