Visa (NYSE: V) announced a new service called AI Financial Assistant, designed to allow banks to offer conversational, AI-powered financial guidance within their existing mobile banking apps, according to a company press release.
The service is part of Visa's Digital Issuer Solutions platform and requires no custom development from financial institutions. Banks can white-label the feature under their own branding. It is powered by Visa's Data & AI Platform, which draws on the company's network of more than 300 billion annual transactions.
The tool allows cardholders to receive automatic monthly spending summaries, ask natural-language questions about their finances, and take actions such as locking a card or setting alerts within the chat interface. Future planned enhancements include integration with Visa's Enhanced Subscription Manager.
"Consumers are already turning to AI for financial advice—but banks have the full financial picture, can act on it, and are among the most trusted institutions consumers rely on," said Michele Herron, Senior Vice President and Head of North America Value-Added Services at Visa.
Visa cited survey data from Credit Karma indicating that more than 66% of Americans who have used generative AI have turned to it for financial advice. A separate 2025 Oliver Wyman survey found that 85% of consumers said they would share more data with their bank if a clear AI value proposition existed.
AI Financial Assistant is scheduled to be available to U.S. financial institutions for a pilot program in August 2026, with a global rollout planned to follow.
