PTC launches Onshape Labs early-access AI program for engineers

July 14, 2026 8:33 AM EDT

PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) announced Onshape Labs, an early-access program within its Onshape cloud-native CAD and PDM platform, giving select customers early access to emerging AI-powered capabilities within product development workflows. Broader availability is expected later this summer, when users will be able to opt in through the platform's "Preferences" settings.

The program currently includes two capabilities: AI Quick Render, which generates high-quality renderings from text prompts, and Onshape to Isaac Sim workflows, which allow CAD assets to be brought into Nvidia's Isaac Sim robotics simulation framework using Omniverse Libraries.

Additional capabilities planned for release through Onshape Labs include AI Agents and Automation for task execution within engineering workflows, a Drawing Checker that uses AI to validate drawings against standards, and a FeatureScript MCP Server enabling prompt-based CAD geometry creation through a text-to-code-to-CAD framework.

Participating customers will be able to provide feedback intended to inform further development of these tools. PTC stated it may refine, modify, or discontinue any Onshape Labs capability at its discretion.

"Engineering teams don't need more disconnected AI tools; they need AI that understands their products, their data, and how they actually work," said David Katzman, EVP and General Manager of Onshape and Arena at PTC.

Madison Huang, director of product marketing at Nvidia, said the integration of Nvidia Omniverse libraries into the program allows teams to "visualize, simulate and improve products as they build."

PTC, headquartered in Boston, employs over 7,000 people and serves more than 30,000 customers globally, according to the company's press release.
