HawkEye 360 Pathfinder satellite model added to Air and Space Museum

A model of HawkEye 360's (NYSE: HAWK) original Pathfinder satellite is now on display at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as part of the newly opened "RTX Living in the Space Age" hall.

The exhibition places the Pathfinder model alongside historic U.S. government systems in a section dedicated to signals intelligence from space. The museum describes the Pathfinder as the first satellite to locate and capture a wide range of radio signals.

Pathfinder launched in December 2018, operating as a three-satellite formation approximately 500 kilometers above Earth. Originally designed for a two-year demonstration mission, the cluster remained operational for more than six years before being decommissioned at the end of 2024.

The mission validated the concept of geolocating and characterizing radio-frequency activity as a commercial service and served as the foundation for HawkEye 360's current satellite constellation, which the company states has grown to more than 30 satellites.

"Pathfinder was the first mission to introduce a space-based signals intelligence service model, and it proved that industry could deliver trusted, operationally relevant defense and national security insights at global scale," said John Serafini, Chief Executive Officer of HawkEye 360.

The "RTX Living in the Space Age" exhibition examines space technologies related to Earth observation, communication, and navigation.
