VisionWave files provisional patent for satellite-free HF communication system
VisionWave Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: VWAV) filed a U.S. provisional patent application on July 1, 2026, covering SkyWeave, a high-frequency communication system that uses artificial intelligence to enable long-range communication without satellites, cellular networks, or conventional terrestrial infrastructure.
The application, filed as U.S. Provisional Application No. 64/103,289 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, is titled "SkyWeave Intelligent HF Communicator: AI-Orchestrated Satellite-Free Global Communication Ecosystem."
According to the filing, SkyWeave applies AI, propagation analysis, and adaptive software logic to assist users in selecting communication paths based on ionospheric conditions, frequency selection, antenna readiness, power state, and link probability. The system is described as capable of deployment in handheld, vehicle-mounted, maritime, aircraft, drone, and fixed-station configurations.
The company states the system is intended for both defense and civil applications, including use with unmanned ground vehicles, drones, maritime assets, emergency response networks, and disaster recovery operations.
"SkyWeave is designed to address a major operational challenge: how to communicate when satellites, cellular systems, and traditional infrastructure are unavailable or unreliable," said Danny Rittman, first named inventor on the application.
VisionWave said it is preparing a non-provisional patent application, which it expects to file in the coming months. The company noted that the provisional filing establishes a priority date for the disclosed subject matter but does not guarantee issuance of a patent.
