Zimmer Biomet names Chintan Desai Asia Pacific president

Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc. (NYSE and SIX: ZBH) has named Chintan Desai president of its Asia Pacific Region, effective immediately, according to a company statement.

Desai joins Zimmer Biomet from Alcon, where he most recently served as vice president and general manager of International Growth and Export Markets, based in Switzerland. Before that, he was vice president of Alcon's Asia Pacific Surgical business in Singapore. Prior to Alcon, Desai spent more than 22 years at GE Healthcare in senior regional business leadership roles across the United States, Singapore, and Australia.

His experience includes sales management, marketing, services, supply chain, finance, and project management across medical devices, consumer health, digital solutions, and capital equipment. Desai is a certified Chartered Accountant from India and completed the Executive Leadership Development Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Desai replaces Sang Yi, who has served as group president of Asia Pacific and will depart the company on Aug. 28 to facilitate a transition. Ivan Tornos, chairman, president, and CEO of Zimmer Biomet, credited Yi with 13 years of contributions to the company's Asia Pacific strategy.
