Starwood Capital promotes Qahir Madhany to head of Americas acquisitions

Starwood Capital Group has promoted Qahir Madhany to Head of Acquisitions, Americas, effective immediately, according to a press release from the Miami-based private investment firm.

Madhany joined Starwood Capital in January 2025 as a Managing Director focused on special situations and strategic initiatives, including the acquisition of Starwood Property Trust's (NYSE: STWD) net lease platform, Fundamental Income Properties. In his new role, he will oversee the firm's equity investments in the region, with a focus on sourcing and executing real estate transactions.

Before joining Starwood Capital, Madhany was a Managing Director in the Real Estate Group at Blackstone, where he was involved in more than $60 billion in investment activity across asset classes in the U.S. and Canada. He also spent more than seven years at Westbrook Partners focused on U.S. real estate transactions.

Chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht noted in the announcement that the firm held the final close on its $10.22 billion flagship real estate opportunity fund last month, which it described as the largest in its 34-year history.

Madhany holds a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering and a B.S. in Economics from Duke University.

Starwood Capital Group currently manages approximately $130 billion in assets under management and has raised over $95 billion of capital since its founding in 1991.
