July 13, 2026 1:00 PM EDT

The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) reached a new retransmission consent agreement with DirecTV on July 10, ending a five-week blackout period and restoring service to DirecTV subscribers across more than 40 markets.

According to a press release, the deal marks the third major cable and satellite distribution renewal Scripps has completed in 2026. The company said the three contracts collectively represent the majority of its pay-TV subscriber households scheduled for renewal this year.

Adam Symson, Scripps' president and CEO, commented on the agreements: "These agreements recognize the enduring value of local television stations as essential infrastructure for American communities. Fair compensation from distribution partners ensures we can sustain these essential public services for millions of Americans who depend on us for accessible, trusted connection to what matters most in their daily lives."

Scripps operates a portfolio of approximately 60 stations in 40 markets across the United States.
