Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) has announced a new service called Lumen Defender Advanced Managed Detection and Response (AMDR) for Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSIAM, combining Lumen's network-based threat intelligence with Palo Alto Networks' AI-driven security operations platform.
The service integrates threat intelligence from Lumen's Black Lotus Labs, which monitors activity across the Lumen network to identify attacker infrastructure and behavior. According to the company, this network-level visibility is intended to detect threats before they reach customer environments, including reconnaissance and staging activity.
The offering supports both co-managed and fully managed security operations center models and is designed to reduce alert volume through smart grouping, automate investigation workflows, and accelerate incident response. Lumen said the service is aimed at reducing reliance on specialized in-house security staff and simplifying vendor contracts.
"Cyber defense is a speed game, and the network is where threats often show up first," said Jim Fowler, Lumen's Chief Technology and Product Officer. "With Palo Alto Networks, we're again raising the bar for security by expanding access to our high-value network threat intelligence and putting it to work through modern, automated operations."
Simone Gammeri, Chief Partnership Officer at Palo Alto Networks, said combining Lumen's network-level threat intelligence with Cortex XSIAM is intended to help organizations defend against threats at machine speed.
Black Lotus Labs has previously been involved in disrupting cyber campaigns targeting U.S. government agencies and global enterprises, according to the press release.
