Factorial Energy partners with Tulip Tech for drone battery deployment

Factorial Energy (NASDAQ: FAC), a solid-state battery company, announced a strategic partnership with Netherlands-based Tulip Tech Group B.V. to commercialize solid-state and lithium metal batteries for drone applications, according to a press release dated July 13, 2026.

Initial flight testing conducted before any engineering optimization showed a more than 30% increase in flight range, the companies said. The partnership includes a joint customer engagement framework and a roadmap toward volume production.

Tulip Tech, headquartered in Den Bosch, Netherlands, manufactures custom battery packs for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and counts more than 250 customers across defense, security, and commercial sectors, including NASA. The company said it has delivered over 100,000 battery packs in a single month.

"Battery performance is the ceiling on almost every drone mission, and Tulip's job is to raise that ceiling by matching each mission to the best cell technology available. In this program, Factorial's solid-state and lithium-metal platform delivered more than a 30% range gain in initial testing," said Bernd Rietberg, CEO of Tulip Tech.

Siyu Huang, CEO of Factorial, said the company's automotive cell platform previously powered a drive of more than 1,200 kilometers on a single charge and described the drone flight result as the next milestone for the technology.

Factorial, listed on the Nasdaq, is backed by investors including Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Hyundai, and Kia, as well as IQT, a not-for-profit strategic investor affiliated with the U.S. national security community.
