AECOM selected as certifier for Queensland rail project

AECOM (NYSE: ACM) has been selected as Independent Certifier for The Wave – Stage 1, a rail project in Queensland, Australia, the company said in a press release. AECOM will serve in the role through a joint venture with Bureau Veritas.
The Wave is part of Queensland's 2032 Delivery Plan tied to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The project involves the design and construction of a dual-track rail line connecting Beerwah to Caloundra, including new and upgraded stations along the route.
The joint venture is contracted for six years, during which it will certify that the project meets safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
Mark McManamny, chief executive of AECOM's Australia and New Zealand region, said the project will connect eastern communities of the Sunshine Coast to the passenger rail network. "As Independent Certifier, we are focused on giving the Queensland Government, communities and future users confidence that the project meets the standards expected of infrastructure that will serve the region for generations," he said.
AECOM has previously served in independent assurance roles on Australian infrastructure projects including the Melbourne Metro Tunnel, Sydney Metro Brownfields, and the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.
