Amcor breaks ground on Dongguan facility expansion in China

Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC) has begun an expansion project at its flexible packaging facility in Dongguan, China, according to a press release from the company.

The project involves constructing a 7,000-square-meter manufacturing facility and automated warehouse, enlarging Amcor's existing campus to over 38,000 square meters. Construction is expected to be completed by July 2027.

The expanded facility will include automated solvent-free laminators, high-speed bag-making machines and automated bag arranging systems. The company said the expansion is intended to increase production capacity, improve operational efficiency and support the development of recycle-ready packaging for food, home and personal care applications.

Amcor currently operates 23 manufacturing sites and two research and development centers across China, where it has had a presence for more than 30 years.

"China is an important growth market for Amcor, and the Dongguan expansion represents an investment in the technologies and capabilities that will help shape the future of packaging," said Xin She, Vice President and General Manager of Amcor Flexibles China.
