Flex and Cerebras expand CS-3 production in Milpitas, California

July 9, 2026 9:06 AM EDT

Flex and Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ: CBRS) announced an expanded manufacturing partnership on July 9, 2026, to scale production of the Cerebras CS-3 AI accelerator system at Flex's facilities in Milpitas, California.

The expanded operation is expected to increase CS-3 production capacity by approximately seven times through 2026, supported by new assembly and integration lines, expanded floor space, advanced test infrastructure, and additional manufacturing personnel.

The CS-3 is built on a wafer-scale engine architecture and incorporates liquid cooling, high-density power delivery, precision mechanical assembly, and networking infrastructure. Manufacturing the system requires specialized handling, custom tooling, precision calibration, and system-level validation. Flex engineers developed dedicated assembly flows, automated test stations, and manufacturing processes for the platform.

"The CS-3 is unlike any computer system ever built, and scaling its production requires an extraordinary manufacturing partner," said Dhiraj Mallick, COO of Cerebras.

"Every stage of the manufacturing process—from mechanical integration to thermal validation and final system qualification—required deep collaboration between our engineering teams," said Rob Campbell, President of Communication, Enterprise and Cloud at Flex.

Inside the Milpitas facility, production operations include precision mechanical assembly, high-power electrical integration, liquid cooling installation, optical networking validation, and full-rack system qualification. The site has added parallel integration lines, burn-in and validation areas, automated test infrastructure, and expanded warehouse and logistics capacity.

The expansion is also expected to create high-skilled manufacturing roles in the region, spanning manufacturing, systems integration, quality, supply chain, and testing functions. According to the companies, the partnership is based on a press release statement from both firms.
