Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) announced Oracle as the founding partner of IMSA Labs, a platform for collaboration between the motorsports organization and its automotive and technology partners.
A central element of the partnership is the launch of Oracle Cloud Innovation Studio, a startup program built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The program gives startups access to IMSA's live race operations, high-volume telemetry data, and race-generated data to develop and test technology solutions.
Oracle Cloud Innovation Studio will operate from the IMSA paddock, where participating startups can build solutions using OCI's cloud and AI tools. IMSA's racing environment includes 18 global automotive manufacturers and generates millions of telemetry events per race weekend.
Development areas for participating startups include adaptive data routing, cloud-native telemetry ingestion, real-time decision engines, AI-assisted operational insights, and fan-facing live telemetry experiences.
"Innovation happens faster when startups can build against real-world complexity instead of simulated conditions," said Karan Batta, senior vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
John Doonan, president of IMSA, said the initiative extends the organization's tradition of technology development beyond the race car to include startups, technology companies, manufacturers, and research institutions.
According to the announcement, solutions developed through the program are intended to address operational challenges applicable across industries such as manufacturing, transportation, logistics, energy, telecommunications, and smart venues.
