Varonis adds Cursor AI coding tool support to its Atlas platform

Varonis Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRNS) announced support for Cursor, an AI-native coding tool, through its Varonis Atlas platform, according to a company press release dated July 8, 2026.

The integration adds runtime enforcement, threat detection, and session forensics for Cursor, which allows agents to read, write, and execute inside codebases, run terminal commands, install dependencies, and call connected tools. This access can expose sensitive data including source code, credentials, API keys, and customer data.

Varonis Atlas provides four core capabilities for Cursor: runtime enforcement to monitor, block, or alert on agent activity; session forensics to reconstruct prompts, tool usage, command execution, and agent actions; sensitive data and secrets protection to detect and prevent exposure of regulated data; and shadow AI discovery to identify unsanctioned coding agent usage.

"The agents may change, but the security requirements don't," said Ron Bennatan, VP of AI and Data Security Strategy at Varonis. "Developers move between integrated development environments and other tools as they work, and each one has its own guardrails. Atlas gives security teams one place to secure data access, monitor agent activity for risky actions, and enforce policy."

The Cursor integration expands Varonis Atlas coverage across agentic development environments that already include Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and VS Code. Varonis also recently released an integration with the Claude Compliance API for Claude Enterprise and Claude Platform users.
