Lightpath to build fiber networks at two hyperscale data centers

Lightpath announced plans to build fiber infrastructure at two hyperscale data center campuses under construction, one in Saline, Michigan, and one in Port Washington, Wisconsin, according to a press release.

Each campus is planned to exceed one gigawatt of capacity. Lightpath will provide fiber infrastructure and multi-terabit capacity to both facilities. The Saline build is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with Port Washington following in the second quarter of 2027. Both projects are being delivered in partnership with an unnamed anchor hyperscale customer.

"Lightpath is playing an increasingly central role in partnering with hyperscalers to build new fiber infrastructure to address AI-driven demand across the U.S.," said Chris Morley, CEO of Lightpath.

The announcements follow Lightpath's previously disclosed expansions in Phoenix, eastern Pennsylvania, Columbus, and a long-haul corridor linking Columbus and Chicago.

Lightpath is jointly owned by Optimum Communications (NYSE: OPTU) and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners.
