Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) announced that its MPLAB XC Pro Compilers and MPLAB Machine Learning Development Suite are now available at no cost, removing previous paid license requirements for the tools.
The MPLAB XC Pro Compilers, previously sold through tiered licenses, support 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontroller and microprocessor development. The tools apply optimization techniques aimed at reducing code size, lowering memory footprint, and improving execution speed for embedded applications.
The MPLAB Machine Learning Development Suite Model Builder, a plug-in for MPLAB and Microsoft Visual Studio Code, is also now free. The tool is used to generate AI and IoT sensor recognition code for embedded machine learning deployments on resource-constrained devices.
"By eliminating license fees and providing high-performance tools at no cost, we're removing barriers to innovation," said Greg Robinson, corporate vice president of Microchip's development tools, MCU and wireless business units.
Microchip's MPLAB XC Functional Safety Compilers, which are TÜV SÜD-certified and support safety-critical applications, are also available as a free download. Certification documentation and support remain available for purchase when required for compliance purposes.
Updates and priority technical support for compiler-related queries are included at no additional cost across all tools.
