ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) has released a summary of factors it expects to affect second-quarter 2026 results compared to the first quarter, according to a company statement.
In Q1 2026, ExxonMobil reported total U.S. GAAP earnings of $4.2 billion, with the upstream segment contributing $5.7 billion. The Energy Products segment posted a loss of $1.3 billion, while Chemical Products earned $0.1 billion, Specialty Products $0.7 billion, and Corporate and Finance recorded a loss of $1.1 billion. On a non-GAAP adjusted basis, total Q1 earnings were $8.8 billion after removing $0.7 billion in Middle East-related identified items and $3.9 billion in estimated timing effects.
For Q2 2026, the company estimates that changes in liquids prices could affect upstream earnings by $3.5 billion to $3.9 billion. Changes in margins are estimated to impact Energy Products by $2.0 billion to $2.4 billion, Chemical Products by $1.0 billion to $1.2 billion, and Specialty Products by $0.3 billion to $0.5 billion.
The company also flagged volume-related disruptions tied to Middle East events, estimating an upstream impact of negative $0.8 billion to negative $0.6 billion, with additional negative effects across Energy Products and Specialty Products segments.
For Q2 2026 identified items, ExxonMobil estimates impairments of negative $1.0 billion to negative $0.8 billion in Energy Products, and other items including reserves of negative $1.4 billion to negative $1.2 billion in the upstream segment. Estimated timing effects in Energy Products are projected at $2.2 billion to $3.0 billion.
The company noted that the figures do not constitute an earnings estimate for Q2 2026 and do not reflect all changes between the two periods, including operating performance, unscheduled downtime, or foreign exchange fluctuations.
