Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) announced that its network expansion across the greater Phillipsburg, New Jersey area has surpassed 50% completion, with the project targeting more than 15,700 homes and businesses that currently lack access to the company's services.
According to a press release from the company, construction in Greenwich, Lopatcong, and Alpha townships is nearing completion, while work in Phillipsburg is half finished and activity in Pohatcong is in earlier stages. The full project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The expansion covers Xfinity residential services, including internet, mobile, television, and home security, as well as Comcast Business products such as internet, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, and mobile plans.
"Reaching this milestone in Greater Phillipsburg reflects the steady progress we're making to connect more New Jersey communities to the technology they need to live, work and grow," said Dan Bonelli, Regional Senior Vice President at Comcast.
Comcast said it has connected an additional 43,000 homes and businesses across New Jersey to its services over the past year. The company also noted that its Internet Essentials program, which offers low-cost broadband to eligible households, is available in the area, alongside investments in Warren County nonprofits focused on digital skills and connectivity.
