Frontier Power USA selects four battery storage projects totaling 920 MWh

July 7, 2026 8:02 AM EDT

Frontier Power USA (FPUSA) has exercised its exclusive selection right on four battery energy storage projects developed by Stella Energy Solutions, according to a press release. The four projects — Blanquilla BESS, Aransas Pass, Nash, and Wallis — collectively represent approximately 230 MW / 920 MWh of battery energy storage capacity.

The projects are expected to use Eos Energy Enterprises (NASDAQ: EOSE) Z3 long-duration batteries, though closing remains contingent on the successful completion of Eos's recently announced rights offering.

The selected projects are the first to advance under a previously announced strategic framework between FPUSA and Stella, which established a path to convert Stella's late-stage development pipeline of more than 2 GWh of battery energy storage projects onto the FPUSA platform. Stella will serve as FPUSA's designated execution partner through to commercial operation.

FPUSA will fund 100% of construction equity for the projects. The portfolio is expected to draw on FPUSA's previously announced 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement with Eos, with a focus on deploying storage infrastructure across the ERCOT market in Texas.

FPUSA's equity capital base includes a commitment from funds managed by Cerberus Capital Management, along with a previously announced investment from Hudson Bay Capital and expected proceeds from the Eos rights offering. KKR Capital Markets has been engaged to support long-term project financing across the platform.
