FreightCar America lands 1,900-railcar order, Q2 bookings hit $300M

FreightCar America (NASDAQ: RAIL) announced a multi-year order for 1,900 railcars from an unnamed customer, with deliveries scheduled through 2028, according to a press release from the Chicago-based manufacturer.
The company said second quarter orders totaled approximately 3,000 railcars, valued at roughly $300 million. Orders were received across every core market segment, and included both first-time and repeat customers.
"This new multi-year commitment for 1,900 railcars is a testament to that, marking a milestone for the Company and showcasing the confidence our customers put into our ability to execute over a sustained delivery horizon," said Nick Randall, President and Chief Executive Officer of FreightCar America.
Randall added that the approximately 3,000 railcars ordered in the quarter represent "an inflection point in terms of commercial momentum across our differentiated product portfolio."
The company noted that certain orders referenced are subject to customary documentation and completion of terms.
