Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) announced an initial allocation of up to $5 million for workforce development in Texas, as part of its broader five-year, $100 million Building the Future Workforce Initiative, according to a company statement.
The Texas commitment, the initiative's second state launch, targets reducing financial barriers to training, developing a skills framework for advanced manufacturing roles, and connecting workers to careers in industrial and technical fields.
Caterpillar said it will collaborate with Texas State Technical College, the Manufacturing Institute, and the Seguin Economic Development Corporation to carry out the program. The announcement was made at the company's engine facility in Seguin, Texas, a 1.7-million-square-foot site.
Texas is home to 6,630 Caterpillar employees across 17 facilities, with the company's headquarters located in Irving. Caterpillar cited the state's existing educational institutions and infrastructure as factors in selecting Texas for the commitment.
"Texas is a manufacturing powerhouse and a vital hub for innovation," said Christy Pambianchi, Caterpillar's chief human resources officer. "Through this pledge, we're capitalizing on those strengths and preparing Texans for the jobs of today and the advanced technology and manufacturing careers of tomorrow."
Caterpillar reported 2025 sales and revenues of $67.6 billion.
