Butterfly Network launches handheld ultrasound devices in Brazil

July 2, 2026 8:05 AM EDT

Butterfly Network, Inc. (NYSE: BFLY) announced the commercial availability of its Butterfly iQ+ and iQ3 handheld ultrasound devices and mobile application in Brazil, sold through a network of authorized distribution partners.

According to a company press release, Brazil is the largest medical device market in Latin America. The global point-of-care ultrasound market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.2% over the 2025–2035 period, according to the 2025 Signify Research Ultrasound Equipment Report.

The devices use Butterfly's Ultrasound-on-Chip technology and are compatible with supported iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, enabling whole-body imaging through a single handheld probe. The platform replaces traditional piezoelectric crystal-based systems with a semiconductor-based design.

"Successfully meeting Brazil's regulatory and certification requirements reflects the strength of Butterfly's technology and our ability to bring trusted ultrasound solutions to clinicians in markets with the highest standards," said John Soto, Senior Vice President of International at Butterfly Network.

The company said the Brazil launch is part of its broader international expansion strategy. Butterfly devices are currently available in parts of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America.
