CME Group posts record June trading volume, up 19% year-over-year

CME Group (NASDAQ: CME) reported a record average daily volume (ADV) of 30.6 million contracts in June 2026, a 19% increase compared to the same month a year earlier, according to a company statement.
The exchange operator also recorded its second-highest second-quarter ADV ever, reaching 29.8 million contracts for Q2 2026.
Equity index products posted an all-time monthly record in June, with ADV rising 54% to 10.1 million contracts. Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100 futures set a record ADV of 3.2 million contracts, while Micro E-mini S&P 500 futures ADV rose 39% to 1.5 million contracts.
Agricultural products also set an all-time monthly record in June, with ADV up 8% to 2.3 million contracts. Corn futures ADV rose 20% to 619,000 contracts.
Interest rate ADV increased 17% to 13.6 million contracts in June. U.S. Treasury futures and options ADV rose 19% to 7.2 million contracts, while SOFR futures and options ADV increased 14% to 5.8 million contracts.
Cryptocurrency ADV rose 76% to 334,000 contracts, representing $10.7 billion in notional value. Metals ADV increased 12% to 967,000 contracts, and foreign exchange ADV rose 6% to 1.2 million contracts.
International ADV increased 17% to 9.3 million contracts, with EMEA ADV up 15% to 6.7 million contracts and APAC ADV up 21% to 2.2 million contracts.
BrokerTec overall average daily notional value rose 17% to $1.078 trillion in June. EBS Spot FX average daily notional value increased 7% to $68 billion.
