INmune Bio Inc. (NASDAQ: INMB) has submitted its CORDStrom™ platform patent application into the U.S. national phase before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, according to a press release from the Boca Raton, Fla.-based biotechnology company.
The filing follows a favorable Written Opinion on patentability received during the international phase of the corresponding Patent Cooperation Treaty application. The opinion addressed the novelty and inventiveness of the application before national phase entry.
The patent application covers the company's CORDStrom™ mesenchymal stromal cell platform, including its lead candidate Ebstrocel (pobistrocel) for epidermolysis bullosa, as well as next-generation modalities in which cells are selected based on disease-specific characteristics or engineered to deliver targeted therapeutic payloads. The application includes composition-of-matter and method-of-treatment claims.
If granted, the patent family is projected to provide protection extending to at least 2045, subject to patent term adjustment and applicable laws.
"This patent family, should it be granted, is expected to provide broad protection for the CORDStrom™ platform, including composition-of-matter, methods of treatment, and related intellectual property extending into at least 2045," said Joshua Schoonover, General Counsel of INmune Bio.
The company said it plans to pursue corresponding patent applications in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other markets.
INmune Bio noted that CORDStrom™ has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory body. The company said it plans to submit a Marketing Authorization Application to the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and the European Medicines Agency in 2026, along with a U.S. Biologics License Application.
