Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has received a Federal Aviation Administration Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to install Gogo's Galileo HDX connectivity system on Gulfstream G650 and G650ER aircraft, according to a statement from Gogo (NASDAQ: GOGO).
The Galileo HDX uses an electronically steered antenna (ESA) and operates on Eutelsat's OneWeb low earth orbit (LEO) network, providing connectivity capabilities including video conferencing, streaming, and internet browsing across multiple devices simultaneously.
Gulfstream's installation places the antenna under a tail-mounted radome and is described as backward compatible with existing network equipment. The system is approved for multiple radomes and is fully integrated with the cabin.
"The addition of Gogo Galileo HDX as an aftermarket option for the G650 and G650ER reflects the growing demand for high-speed connectivity and provides operators with the latest technology in business aviation," said Chris Moore, CEO of Gogo.
The certification makes the Galileo HDX available as an aftermarket option for operators of the two Gulfstream large-cabin jet variants.
