Amentum wins NASA COSMOS contract for spaceflight operations

Amentum (NYSE: AMTM), headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, has been awarded NASA's Consolidated Spaceflight Mission Operations and Systems (COSMOS) contract, according to a company press release.

The contract was awarded through ASCEND Aerospace & Technology, LLC, a joint venture between Amentum and Aerodyne Industries, LLC. The joint venture was formed under the Small Business Administration's Mentor-Protégé Program.

Under the contract, ASCEND will provide mission operations, systems, and training solutions to NASA's Flight Operations Directorate at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The work will support several NASA programs, including the Orion and Space Launch System (SLS), International Space Station (ISS) operations, astronaut training, the Commercial Crew Program, and the Artemis program.

Amentum's scope of work includes Mission Control Center systems, astronaut and instructor training, flight controller readiness, training systems development, and mockup environments.
