SAS orders 18 Airbus A330-900 aircraft for fleet renewal

Investing.com -- Scandinavian carrier SAS placed a firm order with Airbus for 18 A330-900 aircraft as part of its fleet renewal strategy. The agreement was signed during a ceremony in Copenhagen by SAS CEO Anko van der Werff and Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry.

The aircraft will support SAS's international network expansion, enabling the airline to increase capacity on existing global routes and introduce new routes.

It will allow us to deliver an exceptional customer experience, expand our network, and offer greater flexibility and convenience for our passengers. The A330neo is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and can fly up to 8,100 nautical miles or 15,000 kilometers without stopping. The aircraft reduces fuel burn, CO2 emissions and operating costs by 25% compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.

All Airbus aircraft can currently operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel, with a target to reach 100% capability by 2030.

At the end of May 2026, the A330 Family had received over 1,950 orders from 133 customers worldwide.
