Orvana buys adjacent Argentina claims for $1.2M, expanding Taguas
Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX: ORV, OTCQX: ORVMF) acquired four mining claims totaling 4,015 hectares in San Juan Province, Argentina, from a subsidiary of Pan American Silver Corp. (NYSE: PAAS, TSX: PAAS) for US$1,200,000, the company said in a press release.
The transaction, completed June 26, 2026, adds the Evelina Property to Orvana's existing Taguas Project, increasing its exploration footprint by approximately 123%, from 3,274 to 7,289 hectares. The four claims — Evelina I, Gabriela 1, Gabriela 2, and Gabriela 3 — are located in the Iglesia Department of San Juan Province.
The Evelina Property sits within the same Oligocene–Miocene metallogenic belt that hosts the Cerros Taguas. The eastern portion of the property has seen historical exploration work and has been identified via satellite imagery as a potential southern extension of the Taguas mineralized corridor. The western portion remains largely unexplored but shows argillic alteration consistent with high-sulfidation epithermal environments.
The acquisition follows Orvana's FY2026 drilling campaign at Taguas, which comprised two drill holes totaling 2,173.7 metres. Petrographic studies on samples from the first hole identified mineralization consistent with a dacitic porphyry-related hydrothermal system. Results from the second hole remain pending.
Juan Gavidia, Chief Executive Officer of Orvana, said: "The Evelina Property acquisition consolidates a continuous land package alongside Taguas, enhancing our geological optionality and increasing flexibility for potential future development."
Orvana said it plans to evaluate historical data at Evelina and design an integrated exploration program for FY2027. The company operates gold-copper-silver mines in Spain and Bolivia in addition to the Taguas Project in Argentina.
