GE HealthCare announced upgrade pathways for its Allia platform designed to modernize select legacy Innova and Discovery Image Guiding Solutions systems, according to a company press release.
The pathways are intended to give healthcare providers access to Allia technologies and workflows without requiring major construction or full system replacement. GE HealthCare said the upgrades are available in the U.S. and other markets where Allia IGS and Allia IGS Pulse systems are approved for sale.
The announcement comes as aging interventional equipment becomes a growing concern. According to the European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR), one-third of interventional X-ray systems in Europe are more than 10 years old.
Depending on system configuration, market availability, and regulatory requirements, upgrade options may include access to several tools, among them CleaRecon DL, an AI-enabled deep learning reconstruction technology; 3DStent, an intraprocedural 3D coronary stent visualization tool; OmnifyXR, an augmented reality guidance solution; and Embo ASSIST AI, an augmented guidance tool for embolization procedures. Third-party options include Medis Quantitative Flow Ratio software and the AVVIGO+ intravascular imaging platform from Boston Scientific.
GE HealthCare said upgraded systems will also have access to its Tube Watch and OnWatch Predict service options, which use AI to provide estimated lead times to system failure.
"These Allia upgrade pathways reflect our commitment to helping customers modernize on their own terms by extending the capabilities of existing systems while providing access to the latest Allia innovations and AI-enabled technologies in a less disruptive, more sustainable way," said Jyoti Gera, CEO of CardioVascular and Interventional Solutions, Advanced Imaging Solutions, at GE HealthCare.
GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) reported $20.6 billion in annual revenue and employs approximately 54,000 people globally.
