Blue Moon Metals Inc. (NASDAQ: BMM) released assay results from a bulk sample collected at its Apex germanium-gallium-copper project in Utah, the company's first results since acquiring the site from a subsidiary of Teck Resources Limited on March 16, 2026.
A 100 kg sample was crushed and blended at the past-producing mine, returning grades of 0.180% germanium, 0.0273% gallium, and 1.96% copper. The samples were analyzed by Blue Coast Research Ltd. in Parksville, British Columbia, an independent commercial laboratory, using Peroxide Fusion methods. The company noted the samples are selective in nature and may not be representative of the broader mineralized zone.
Blue Moon said it will proceed with a metallurgical program to evaluate flowsheet options and explore near-term commercialization. The company is also examining the potential to sell direct shipping ore (DSO) from Apex, citing what it describes as a constrained germanium supply market outside China. It said it has received unsolicited interest from several major users and producers of germanium and gallium products.
Permitting activities are ongoing, with a targeted completion of mine permitting in Q2 2027. Contract mining discussions have begun, with potential DSO production from Apex targeted as early as Q3 2027. At a mining rate of 150 tonnes per day, the company stated Apex could potentially supply nearly 100% of domestic U.S. germanium demand.
According to Fastmarkets, spot prices as of June 26, 2026 for Rotterdam delivery were $10,500/kg for germanium metal and $2,650/kg for gallium metal.
The technical information in the press release was reviewed and approved by Simon Cooper, P.Eng., a Blue Moon employee and non-independent qualified person as defined by NI 43-101.
