Derek Kilmer joins BAE Systems, Inc. board of directors
BAE Systems, Inc. announced the appointment of Derek Kilmer to its Board of Directors, according to a company press release.
Kilmer currently serves as senior vice president of U.S. Program and Policy for The Rockefeller Foundation. Before that role, he represented Washington's Sixth Congressional District for six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as chairman of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress and as a member of the Appropriations, Armed Services, and Science, Space & Technology committees.
Jonathan W. Greenert, chair of the BAE Systems, Inc. Board, said in a statement: "Derek brings a wealth of leadership experience at the highest levels of government, and his proven record of championing national security and technology will be invaluable as we continue to advance our mission to support our customers."
Prior to his congressional service, Kilmer served in both the Washington State Senate and the Washington State House of Representatives. He also worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company and at a nonprofit focused on regional economic development. He holds a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
